WHAT YOU NEED TO EAT WHEN VISITING HAVEN RIVIERA RESORT

While dwelling in a 5-star resort in Cancun is a superb experience on its own, where would this blog be if I didn’t discuss the food? All-inclusives tend to have ok food, but what happens when all your meals are worthy of a higher status?

Vista’s Snack Bar

Vista’s was home base for the duration of our stay and probably our favorite place to eat at Haven Riviera Resort. Since we had Serenity Club level access, we were able to enjoy the à la carte breakfast menu and we took full advantage. The food is described as “casual”, but it was well plated in addition to being exceptionally tasty and one does not necessarily follow the other.

This particular restaurant also has a swim-up bar below where I spent much of the time drinking bourbon and margaritas while sitting in my favorite spot in the pool. The sheer versatility of Vista’s is why it became a centerpiece of our vacation.

Agua Bendita Mexican & Steakhouse

Agua Bendita’s food was a bit eclectic and frankly my least favorite culinary experience at Haven, but still a delicious meal. Perhaps that has to do with the chosen dishes, but the combination of mole sauce and cream was a bit much for me. I did enjoy the “Governor” tacos and the Crab & Shrimp Croquetes. The Vanilla Gericalla dessert was also tasty.

Satsu

An Asian fusion restaurant on the premises where we decided to do hibachi as a change of pace. A great performance and excellent service with ever-flowing wine as we like it.

Vora Mar

Vora Mar is an Italian restaurant at the resort with an extensive menu of tasty delights. The Grilled Provolone was an excellent way to whet the palate for the Fettucine Scampi main dish. While the Scampi was enjoyable, I was expecting a stronger garlic flavoring in the sauce that I didn’t get. The cannoli with Stracciatella ice cream was a fine ending to the meal.

Olios

The other restaurant where we needed reservations was Olios. Serving Greek faire and a great upscale ambience. I enjoyed my menu selections of Seared Tuna, Turbot, and Truffle/Chocolate Caviar. That last item sounds strange, but the sweet truffle sauce turned out to be delicious in combination with the chocolate cake.

Just a taste of great eats at a superb 5-Star resort.

Until next time…
