TIN LIZZY’S: A DELICIOUS FIND FOR YOUR TACO CRAVINGS

Ending up at Tin Lizzy’s was happenstance. After a long week of remote work, the last thing I wanted to do on Friday afternoon was head to the city from East Point. My partner planned to see a friend in the city and I was getting ready to settle in for the evening and do a little writing. I’m glad she encouraged me to tag along

But First, Friday Traffic In Atlanta

Dealing with Atlanta traffic on most days is a massive headache. However, on a Friday it is one of the most awful things to experience exacerbated by everyone trying to get to the same places in Midtown or Buckhead.

Tin Lizzy’s Is Has A Great Vibe

Described as a “casual Tex-Mex eatery” Tin Lizzy’s is a restaurant with a relaxed vibe and a menu that surprises. It is a quintessential Friday “spot” possessing a variety of taco and nacho combinations. The liquor selection leans heavily on tequila and mezcal based cocktails, but I was able to get my typical neat bourbon — a standard Bulleit in this case.

The Menu

Nachos (Black Beans, Jack Cheese, Queso Blanco, Pico de Gallo, Jalapeños, Cilantro, Sour Cream, Salsa Roja)
Steak And Cheese Philly Taco (Grilled Steak, Queso Blanco, Grilled Peppers, Onions)
Korean BBQ Taco (Grilled Shrimp, Asian Slaw, Korean BBQ Sauce, Cilantro, Onions)
Grilled Mahi Mahi Taco (Grilled Mahi, Sliced Avocado, Baja Slaw, Chipotle Crema, Lime Wedge)
Steak And Mushroom (Grilled Steak, Tater Tots, Sautéed Mushrooms, Blue Cheese Crumbles, Chipotle Crema)

Why Are The Tacos This Good?

I had non-existent expectations for the quality of the food before I began eating. I fully expected to drink my bourbon and surf my phone while my partner attended to her friend, but the menu really offered some tantalizing choices.

While I enjoyed all of my food, the main event for me was the Korean BBQ taco. I am someone who likes a bit of sweet with my savory depending on the dish, and that was the taco I really savored with its tangy sweetness. Both of the Steak based tacos were similar in texture with only the blue cheese crumbles making the difference. The Mahi Mahi taco was very light, tender and juicy.

Should You Go?

Absolutely! It would probably be beneficial to go on Taco Tuesday or Trifecta Thursday to get more bang for your buck on food. Taco Tuesday offers select tacos for $2.75 all day. Trifecta Thursday offers any 3 tacos for $12.
